Overview:
The Principal Project Manager leads complex, multi-faceted programs to align with company vision, strategy, and goals. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of large-scale projects and programs. Using professional principles and methodologies, the Principal Project Manager ensures the delivery of scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project and program teams, ensuring outcomes align with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Drive the planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of projects and programs.
  • Identify, track, and manage key milestones and critical paths for successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define resource needs and assemble cross-functional teams, including external vendors when necessary.
  • Negotiate and influence resourcing across departments, ensuring adequate support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Anticipate risks, dependencies, and constraints, implementing proactive mitigation strategies to ensure success.
  • Enforce change control processes to maintain alignment with project goals and constraints.
  • Regularly report on progress, risks, and key metrics to stakeholders and senior leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 16+ experience in project and program management, including leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Proven expertise in:
    • Verbal and written communication (technical and business contexts).
    • Presentation and facilitation skills (in-person and virtual).
    • Team building, conflict resolution, and strategic thinking.
    • Managing under stress, ambiguity, or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and adaptability to various project management approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Manage multiple, concurrent projects of varying complexity.
    • Oversee large, multi-division programs involving external vendor coordination.
    • Collaborate confidently with senior leadership and key decision-makers.
  • Exceptional analytical, reasoning, and research skills with a big picture mindset and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PgMP, Agile).
  • Experience in technology-driven industries or environments.
