Job Description: Tools Support Engineer

Location: Tampa, FL or Dallas/Coppell, TX (Texas preferred)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (W2)
Experience Level: Mid-Senior (Associate Level)

Key Responsibilities

ALM Tools Administration & Support

  • Create/manage projects, users, and roles in Microfocus QC/ALM/Octane.
  • Troubleshoot user-reported issues and provide L2/L3 support.
  • Develop SQL queries, macros, and scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Customize dashboards, workflows, and reports for engineering teams.

Integration & Upgrades

  • Integrate ALM tools with 3rd-party/Microfocus systems.
  • Test and deploy patches/upgrades; migrate projects to new versions.
  • Validate environments post-upgrade and document best practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with IT/engineering teams to pilot new tools and extract audit reports.
  • Monitor license servers, databases, and infrastructure health.
  • Train users and communicate tool updates effectively.

Required Skills

Must-Have:

  • 2+ years in end-user software support (any application).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting (VBScript/JavaScript), and macros.
  • Excellent communication and time management.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with Microfocus ALM/Octane/QC or similar tools.
  • Financial services industry exposure.
