Job Details

The CIO Division is seeking experienced and motivated Front End Developer / User Interface Designer professionals to support ongoing major projects across the Corporate and Digital Division.

These roles will focus on delivering intuitive, fit-for-purpose interfaces using a lean design process involving rapid prototyping, testing, and implementation. The work aims to balance user, business, and technology needs to deliver effective digital services.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop product improvements, features, user flows, and interfaces
  • Define and iterate user-centric designs based on feedback
  • Deliver UI designs, flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity interfaces
  • Perform user experience evaluations to validate usability and accessibility
  • Implement UI components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Collaborate with user researchers and translate findings into interface improvements
  • Advocate for user-centric design with developers and guide back-end engineers
  • Translate wireframes and prototypes into usable front-end code

Essential Criteria

1. Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces working within to an existing style guide and/or design system using HTML, CSS, and Javascript framework such as ReactJS, and/or Angular.

2. Effective communication skills with the ability to work with and influence multiple stakeholders, and clearly articulate design decisions through a well-conceived rationale.

3. Demonstrated experience in working with others to translate findings from usability testing into actionable improvements to a user interface.

4. Knowledge and implementation of Accessibility requirements - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA as a minimum.

Desirable Criteria

1. Demonstrated experience designing wireframes, user interfaces, and interactive prototypes with a high attention to detail and ability to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate designs.

2. Tertiary Qualifications in a design or computer science/ICT related discipline (Human Factors, Communication/Graphic Design, Systems Design, Psychology, Computer Interaction, Web development etc.)
