Job Details
The ACIC is seeking experienced Software Engineers to support the National Criminal Intelligence System (NCIS), which connects national law enforcement data to provide a unified view of criminal activity across Australia.
Software Engineers in this team will plan, develop, test, and support software systems under limited supervision and collaborate across multidisciplinary and inter-agency teams to deliver secure, robust applications aligned with ACICs technical standards
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop ICT solutions in line with NCIS application and development standards

Support, maintain and enhance NCIS business systems

Contribute to systems design and documentation per ACIC standards

Participate in team efforts to meet project and program deliverables

Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and inter-agency collaborations
-
Identify and implement forward-looking solutions to agency needs
-
Ensure quality through peer review, unit/integration testing, and effective change control
-
Interpret software/system requirements and provide time estimates
-
Provide production support and contribute to full software lifecycle improvement
-
Other duties as directed by the Contract Manager
Additional Security Requirements

Completion of ACICs Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement

Willingness to sign confidentiality deeds and/or complete engagement clearances under section 48 of the Australian Crime Commission Act 2002

Essential Criteria

5+ years working with Java and Spring Boot as a software engineer in the ICT industry
-
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and trust building with technical teams

Experience working on large data projects and using technologies such as Elasticsearch/Solr, Kafka, and NoSQL databases
-
Experience with the following technologies:
JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
Any of the following: GraphQL, Nifi, Postgres, Neo4j, or IIR
Azure Cloud and Linux operating systems

Flexibility of the proposal over the lifecycle of the procurement and environmental sustainability of the goods or services
