Job Details

The agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior OpenShift Administrator to manage, troubleshoot and maintain on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters within government services.

This role requires technical expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes, strong leadership in cloud project delivery, and the ability to support development teams with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and security practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, manage and troubleshoot OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments

  • Ensure high availability, reliability and scalability of platforms

  • Assist developers with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps for containerised apps

  • Manage in-place cluster upgrades, configuration, resource allocation and capacity planning

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions (Ansible, Terraform, Helm)

  • Implement and maintain best practice security including RBAC, segmentation, vulnerability scanning

  • Lead technical project delivery and mentor junior engineers

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and share knowledge

  • Occasional out-of-hours or on-call support may be required

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or similar (highly desirable); alternatively, at least 5+ years in large-scale ICT environments and 3+ years in Kubernetes administration.

  2. At least 5+ years of experience in system administration with strong OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster management, including networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting.

    Experience in government or regulated environments with compliance to ISM and Essential Eight.

  3. Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or equivalent; or willingness to obtain within 36 months.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), CKA, or willingness to obtain within 36 months.

  2. Experience or knowledge in:

    Kubernetes

    Ansible

    Helm

    Python & Bash

    CI/CD pipelines

    Git

    Linux

  3. Clearance: Candidate must have or be able to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
