Biomedical Engineering Manager

JOB PURPOSE

The Biomedical Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the lifecycle management of all medical equipment. This includes procurement support, installation, preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, safety compliance, and user training. The role ensures optimal equipment functionality across company facilities, in alignment with medical regulations, industry standards, and organizational goals.

Medical Equipment Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Oversee and manage the execution of maintenance plans for all medical equipment to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations. Repair, maintain, and supervise all preventive maintenance activities for medical equipment
  • Develop and implement a detailed maintenance schedule for all biomedical devices
  • Conduct safety inspections and performance evaluations on newly installed equipment
  • Ensure all test tools and maintenance instruments are properly calibrated

Financial & Procurement Coordination

  • Manage the biomedical equipment budget and collaborate with the supply chain for financial planning. Follow up on the yearly budget for the biomedical section with the Supply Chain department
  • Prepare monthly reports on budget consumption, PPV, corrective maintenance, and spare parts usage
  • Evaluate, discuss, and negotiate RFPs for new medical equipment purchases
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Manage and effectuate the adherence to safety, health, and quality standards in medical equipment operations. Ensure compliance with GAAHER accreditation audit requirements
  • Maintain records and follow up on regulatory documentation related to equipment safety and quality
  • Conduct investigative evaluations of medical equipment incidents and employee accidents

Vendor & Supplier Coordination

  • Manage relationships with medical equipment suppliers and external service providers. Follow up with procurement and biomedical teams on equipment needs for new locations
  • Review vendor contracts in coordination with the supply chain department
  • Advise on specifications for new equipment purchases and recommend replacements for obsolete devices

People Management & Training

  • Manage and request the training needs analysis for staff training on the proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on medical equipment safety and usage
  • Supervise maintenance team members to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Act as a medical equipment technology expert

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Academic and professional qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering
  • Experience:
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in medical equipment maintenance, repair, and management
