Position Summary
We are looking to hire a full-time Equipment Operator for our site in Houston, TX. This hands-on position involves operating and maintaining heavy machinery, completing excavation-related assignments, and managing forklifts and similar industrial equipment. Core responsibilities include daily equipment checks, minor maintenance, adherence to safety practices, and support for construction and material handling operations. The ideal candidate will have experience handling heavy-duty equipment in a fast-paced environment and a clear understanding of job site procedures. This role is essential to ensuring tasks are performed safely, effectively, and in line with company expectations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift and daily safety inspections on assigned equipment
  • Operate a variety of on-site heavy and mobile machinery, such as loaders and forklifts
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace by completing clean-up tasks as needed
  • Follow all safety regulations and internal safety policies
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting additional duties such as equipment maintenance and yard loading
  • Accurately interpret and follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Arrange for needed repairs and request parts when necessary
  • Identify unsafe conditions and respond appropriately
  • Always comply with all applicable OSHA safety standards
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment while on facility grounds
  • Maintain a high standard of safety awareness and performance
  • Perform additional tasks as delegated by supervisors or site management

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in the use of heavy machinery and forklifts
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance to keep equipment in working condition
  • Ability to perform excavation duties as part of construction tasks
  • Familiar with safety rules and capable of applying them in the field
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to follow directions
  • Physically capable of working in various outdoor environments
  • Experience in a construction setting is advantageous
  • Certification or licensing in heavy equipment operation is preferred
