Role Responsibility
  • Assign duties, monitor quality and on-time delivery of staff work
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance of personnel and implement improvements
  • Work together with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager on staff development
  • Set team priorities and initiatives that align with high level objectives
  • Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize, determine use of space, equipment, material, and personnel
  • Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment, and operations for better utilization of space within their assigned facility
  • Work closely with design, quality assurance and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures within their assigned facility
  • Ensure manufacturing safety policies and procedures are enforced
  • Stay informed with new manufacturing technologies and equipment to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies
  • Support current and new product introductions, APQP
  • Assist Supplier Quality as needed to communicate and resolve supplier issues
  • Determine and eliminate root causes and diminish occurrences in the manufacturing process
  • Ensure that all manufacturing product specifications are developed, and testing procedures are in place per APQP
  • Reduce costs through Lean Manufacturing
  • Monitor and in conjunction with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, update Metrics on a regular basis
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • With guidance from the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, lead the Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians assigned to designated facility
The Ideal Candidate
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience; MBA preferred
  • Five - seven years related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in tool design and modifications
  • Expert knowledge in blueprints
  • Hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes
  • Process-oriented mentality
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong knowledge in writing product specifications
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to perform risk assessment for products, processes, and suppliers
  • Lean system and Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Computer literacy: Basic skills with MS Word and Excel; Strong CAD proficiency, Minitab
  • Previous Supervisory Experience is preferred
