About the job Web Developer
About the Role
We are looking for a talented Web Designer / WordPress Developer to join a growing team supporting an Australian SaaS business.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong WordPress and Divi development skills with good visual design judgment. You will be responsible for taking supplied content, objectives, and direction and turning them into polished, modern, high-quality website pages.
This is not a role where you will simply wait for detailed design instructions. We are looking for someone who can think like both a designer and developer, make sound design decisions, recommend improvements, and take ownership of the page-building process from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and update website pages using WordPress and Divi.
- Translate supplied content and objectives into effective page structures, layouts, and visual flows.
- Create modern, professional, SaaS-style website sections and page designs.
- Make independent decisions around spacing, typography, imagery, hierarchy, calls to action, and overall user experience.
- Recommend improvements and better solutions rather than simply implementing instructions.
- Ensure websites are responsive and function effectively across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Maintain strong visual and structural consistency across the website.
- Implement ongoing website improvements as new features, content, and campaigns are released.
- Work directly with stakeholders to take concepts and content through to finished website pages.
- Follow existing brand guidelines while introducing appropriate design ideas and improvements.
- Perform website quality checks before publishing or handing pages over for review.
- Potentially support additional websites and brands as the business grows.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of relevant experience in web design and/or WordPress development.
- Strong hands-on experience with WordPress.
- Strong hands-on experience with Divi.
- Good visual design judgment and a strong eye for detail.
- Solid understanding of website architecture, page hierarchy, spacing, typography, visual flow, and calls to action.
- Strong understanding of responsive web design across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Experience working on SaaS, technology, professional services, or other modern business websites is highly preferred.
- Ability to work from existing brand guidelines while still contributing creative ideas.
- Ability to independently turn content and objectives into polished, user-friendly web pages.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to recommend a better approach when appropriate.
- Comfortable working with feedback and applying learnings across the broader website.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant WordPress, Divi, and responsive website projects.
How You'll Work
You will generally be provided with the content, purpose, and direction for a page rather than detailed instructions for every design element.
You will be expected to use your expertise to determine:
- The most effective page structure and layout
- How information should flow throughout the page
- Which content should be visually prioritized
- Where imagery, graphics, or visual elements can strengthen the page
- How calls to action should be positioned and presented
- How the overall user experience can be improved
- How the page should adapt across different screen sizes
We are looking for someone who can produce a strong first version with limited detailed correction, rather than someone who requires extensive step-by-step direction for every page.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means consistently delivering website pages that are:
- Visually polished and professional
- Well-structured and easy to navigate
- Consistent with the existing brand
- Responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Built efficiently and accurately in WordPress and Divi
- Delivered on time
- Strong enough in the first version to minimize unnecessary revision rounds
You will also be expected to communicate proactively, provide clear progress updates, and raise any blockers or concerns early.
Opportunity to Grow
The initial focus will be supporting the primary website of the business.
As you demonstrate strong performance and take greater ownership, there is potential to support additional websites, brands, and digital projects within the broader business.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be more than a page builder and have a genuine impact on the design, quality, and ongoing development of multiple websites.
