The Sr. Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all payable transactions, including vendor control, travel, and expense processing, are handled efficiently and in line with service levels and contractual obligations. This role includes receiving, recording, posting, and verifying invoices, payment processing, and supporting the transition of BPO functions to the Costa Rica Service Center.
General Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Certifications such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional are a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role, with progressive responsibilities.
- Proficient in accounting software, ERP systems, and intermediate/advanced Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of AP principles and processes.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, including compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Review, process, and code invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
- Resolve invoice and payment discrepancies, coordinating with vendors to ensure timely payments.
- Prepare and process payment batches (checks, wire transfers, electronic payments).
- Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Provide reports on vendor performance and payment trends, suggesting cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in developing and implementing AP policies and controls for improved efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Participate in month/year-end closings, including reconciling AP transactions and preparing accruals.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and IT to streamline processes.
- Mentor junior clerks, providing guidance and reviewing their work.
- Identify automation opportunities to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Support the BPO Migration Team by reviewing current processes and helping design future workflows.
