The Senior Accountant is a senior-level position reporting directly to the Accounting Supervisor. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing guidance to other team members. The Senior Accountant assists in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS-GAAP).

The ideal candidate must excel in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple tasks and priorities while seeking supervisory support when necessary.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS-GAAP and other accounting principles and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing accounting operations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Oracle, Netsuite, or SAP is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting by preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS-GAAP and other regulatory requirements, staying updated on accounting principles and industry trends.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data, including updating accounting manuals and processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, tax, and audit, to ensure the accuracy of financial information and support the organizations financial goals.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, including training and delegating tasks as needed.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Review accounting documents to ensure the accuracy of information and calculations, making or directing corrective entries as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain control over subsidiary accounting records involving various transactions and accounts.
  • Plan, organize, and control accounting process flows to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Gather and report on department processing metrics, determining relevant statistical data for performance measurement.
