We are seeking an experienced Senior Technician for the Machine Shop to perform precision machining tasks on aircraft engine parts and components. The role involves operating both conventional and CNC equipment, interpreting technical manuals and engineering drawings, and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance within a regulated aviation MRO environment.

Key Responsibilities

Machining Expertise (70%)

  • Perform machining, grinding, drilling, tapping, reaming, extraction of broken screws, Heli-coil installation, milling and other mechanical tasks on aircraft and engine components
  • Interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings with high accuracy
  • Operate conventional machines including horizontal/vertical lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and tool & cutter grinders
  • Program and operate CNC machines including Doosan CNC VTL (Fanuc control), Toshulin CNC VTL (Fanuc control), Spinner CNC horizontal lathe (Siemens control), Deckel CNC milling, and CNC EDM
  • Utilize 5-axis CNC milling machines where applicable
  • Perform delegated machining tasks on aircraft structures (e.g., landing gear lugs, bush installations)

Quality Control (10%)

  • Inspect and release completed machining tasks to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and adherence to machining and QC standards

Safety and Compliance (10%)

  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental regulations
  • Support safety initiatives and environmental programs

Maintenance and Tool Calibration (5%)

  • Perform machine shop housekeeping and tool organisation
  • Support equipment maintenance and calibration, ensuring machinery remains in optimal condition

Continuous Improvement (5%)

  • Support process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in internal and external training to enhance skills and shop performance

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate, vocational, or technical qualification relevant to machining or aviation maintenance
  • D2 level authorization in machine shop practices (or equivalent)
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive machinist experience in the aviation industry

Key Competencies

  • Ability to operate conventional machining equipment independently
  • Proficiency using precision measurement instruments
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals
  • CNC programming and operation skills (Fanuc, Siemens, EDM, 5-axis machines)
  • Skilled in drilling, tapping, reaming, screw extraction, and Heli-coil installation
  • Understanding of aircraft components and the machining of landing gear and related structures
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to contribute to process improvements and shop efficiency
  • Willingness to participate in continuous learning and development
