Position Summary
Provides legal advice to clients in sophisticated tech/telecoms industries on a wide range technology matters such as e-commerce, e-transaction, and e-payment matters, as well as data privacy and protection
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on data privacy and cybersecurity law, and compliance with Vietnams new regulations
- Advise technology companies, telecom companies, OTT operators, and e-payment and fintech companies on regulatory compliance with Vietnam-related regulations
- Advise clients on technology procurement; development, licensing, transfer, and protection of investment in the technology sector; and commercialization of software applications
- Advise and assist clients on the use and deployment of hardware and digital infrastructure; provision of e-commerce services; and mergers and acquisitions
- Advise and assist clients with strategic positioning, protection, and profiting from their valuable intellectual property in diverse markets worldwide
- Formulate legal strategies and analytical responses to clients and act as the primary point of contact for TMT clients
- Draft, review, and finalize technology-related contracts such as contracts for consulting services, IT products, software and data processing along with data privacy
- Perform legal research when and as necessary to resolve legal issues and determine the appropriate course of action regarding a particular issue or case
- Senior position would have additional responsibilities related to client development and work management
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Vietnamese national
- Minimum 4 years (7 years for senior associate position) post qualification experience advising on TMT matters at:
- a reputable law firm;
- a reputable TMT-related company in an in-house counsel position; or
- a relevant government agency such as the Ministry/Department of Information and Communication (MIC or DIC)
- Exceptional academic background with includes, at minimum, a bachelors degree in law
- Excellent command of English (verbal and written) and the ability to communicate with foreign clients and colleagues comfortably
- A can do attitude, and an enthusiastic and energetic personality
- Good team player
- Strong time management and project management skills
- Strong business acumen and work ethic, and high professional standards
