About the job Unit Head
The Unit Head is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a designated hospital unit, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, clinical excellence, and administrative efficiency. This role involves leadership, team management, quality assurance, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of services aligned with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Manage and supervise daily clinical and administrative operations of the unit to ensure efficient patient flow, safety, and quality of care.
Staff Management:
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of nurses, physicians, and support staff. Handle workforce planning, shift scheduling, and performance reviews.
Patient Care Oversight:
- Ensure timely and compassionate care is delivered; monitor patient outcomes and satisfaction. Address and resolve patient concerns promptly.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with healthcare standards, hospital protocols, and national accreditation requirements. Drive quality improvement initiatives.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
- Assist in preparing unit budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure optimal use of resources and medical supplies.
Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and ensure continuous professional development for all team members.
Communication & Coordination:
- Liaise with other hospital departments to coordinate care, manage referrals, and improve interdepartmental workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent (Masters preferred).
- Clinical background with minimum 710 years of healthcare experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage teams in a high-pressure clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, patient safety, and quality standards.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
