About the job Design Manager - MEP
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the MEP design process from concept to construction stages.
- Review and validate design documents submitted by consultants and contractors (drawings, specifications, BOQs).
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, local authorities).
- Coordinate MEP designs with architectural and structural elements to avoid clashes.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., architecture, structure, procurement) and external stakeholders (consultants, contractors, authorities).
- Manage design deliverables schedule to align with overall project timeline.
- Conduct value engineering and ensure cost-effective design solutions.
- Provide technical input during tendering and construction phases.
- Support site team during implementation, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and resolving technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Masters Degree or PMP certification is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in MEP design and coordination.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years in a design management or leadership role.
- Proven track record in large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of MEP design principles and systems.
- Proficiency in MEP design tools (Revit MEP, Navisworks, etc.).
- Familiar with BIM workflows and coordination.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
