Our Research Systems Analytics and Reporting team have a wonderful opportunity for an early-career IT professional. We are seeking a Test Analyst to participate in, and support, the testing of the Universitys Research applications. The role is located at our Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong but can be undertaken from our Melbourne campus in Burwood if you prefer. As the role is performed as part of an Agile Scrum project team, currently the on-campus days are Mondays and Tuesdays with 2 3 days work from home. The Test Analyst is responsible for designing, developing and executing test cases to verify that proposed changes conform to defined criteria and standards, before being released to the customer for User Acceptance Testing. The role is responsible for functional testing to ensure that changes operate as expected when migrated to production. You will engage with use-cases and work across the reporting and systems side of Research, partnering with our e-Solutions colleagues where needed.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the end-to-end process relating to applications testing that increase value and efficiency of functions and services
  • Develop test cases using predefined templates and structures while following the existing test methodologies and standards
  • Establish performance metrics to evidence value, efficiency and improvement and develop reusable artefacts to enable process and performance management
  • Implement process and performance management, methods and tools and embed into existing organisational practices
  • Ensure testing is embedded within agile research systems team ensuring effective development and handover of testing assets for reuse in the future.
  • Perform a range of analysis, communication and quality assurance tasks which contribute to streamlined business systems, processes and improved business efficiency
  • Execute functional testing (including shakeout, system, integration and regression) in line with defined test plans and timeline estimates.
  • Escalate conflicting priorities to the Manager Analysis and Reporting for prioritisation based on urgency and importance.

To be successful, youll have:

  • An equivalent combination of training and experience or a Post-secondary/Graduate/Postgraduate qualification in Tertiary degree in an Information Technology or related discipline and subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Experience working in an IT testing environment, with a clear understanding of testing roles, principles, methodologies, and tools
  • Proven ability to develop and execute test cases and achieve milestones
  • Demonstrated understanding of change, configuration and release management
