PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
The Embedded Commercial Sales Consultant will serve as the market's on-site commercial product specialist, supporting local banks to drive the adoption, usage, and scaling of our Commercial Solutions. The role combines hands on sales support, pipeline development, client engagement, training, and coordination between bank teams and the relevant stakeholders.
The consultant will work closely with commercial, enterprise, and SME banking teams to originate and close new business, support product rollouts, and ensure successful implementation through to active usage.
Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Sales & Pipeline Development:
- Act as a dedicated sales and product consultant to support banks in selling Commercial products, including Commercial Cards and Spend Clarity, to corporate and SME clients.
- Build, manage, and optimize a pipeline of new commercial sales opportunities in line with agreed revenue and volume targets.
- Support the full sales lifecycle, from opportunity identification and client engagement through deal closure and post launch support.
- Apply a consultative sales approach to align Commercial solutions with client business objectives.
- Track and manage sales progress, ensuring momentum beyond first dollar billed.
Client & Market Engagement:
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities within Existing to Bank (ETB) corporate and SME customer segments.
- Stay ahead of client RFP cycles and competitive dynamics within the market.
- Develop strong relationships with key client stakeholders across commercial, enterprise, risk, and operations teams.
- Maintain strong understanding of the bank's target client profiles and operate within defined risk appetite.
Product Enablement & Implementation Support:
- Support Commercial Solutions initiatives, including new product and solution rollouts.
- Work closely with bank teams to support implementations and ensure successful onboarding and early usage.
- Maintain deep knowledge of Commercial products, tools, and value propositions to support sales effectiveness.
Training & Capability Building:
- Deliver targeted internal and external training sessions for bank sales teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Customize training materials using toolkits and market specific insights.
- Build and maintain an internal knowledge base to support ongoing capability development.
Cross Functional Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between bank teams and regional and global stakeholders.
- Join client and internal calls to provide market insights, product expertise, and sales support.
- Ensure effective wiring between bank stakeholders and teams to accelerate deal execution and implementation.
Performance Management:
- Deliver against agreed sales volume, revenue, and market share targets for Commercial products.
- Meet all performance, financial, and budget expectations tied to the role.
- Continuously identify opportunities to capitalize on emerging customer needs and market trends.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience in B2B sales, commercial banking, payments, or card-based solutions.
- Strong consultative selling and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in an embedded, client facing environment with high ownership and accountability.
- Strong communication, training, and presentation capabilities.
- Knowledge of commercial cards, liquidity, expense management, or transaction banking is an advantage.
Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Previous experience within Banking, Digital Payment & Card solutions or the FinTech industry.
- Regional experience across Mauritius, including working in a faced-paced matrix organisation.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) in English.
Preferred Skills:
- The ability to analyse data, troubleshoot payment issues, optimize processes, and make data-driven decisions.
- Good understanding of payment systems, digital platforms, system workflows, security basics, and industry technologies.
- An understanding of regional regulations across financial services or payment networks.
