Job Description:

5 Months contract

We are looking for a Senior L2 Infrastructure Engineer to provide advanced technical support and ensure the stability, performance, and security of our core IT infrastructure. This role bridges Level 1 support and Level 3 engineering, working in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Incident & Problem Management

  • Resolve escalated infrastructure incidents from L1 support

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes

  • Collaborate with L3 engineers and external vendors

Infrastructure Operations

  • Monitor and maintain servers, storage, networks, and cloud infrastructure (Azure)

  • Perform patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance

  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity

  • Maintain daily operational scripts for preventive maintenance and reporting

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python)

  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code deployments (Ansible, Terraform)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain system and configuration documentation

  • Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS

  • Support audits and provide technical evidence

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Work closely with DevOps, Security, and Application Support teams

  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing

  • Participate in change and release management processes

Experience & Skills

  • 4+ years in IT infrastructure support or systems administration

  • Strong Windows & Linux server knowledge

  • Virtualisation experience (VMware, Hyper-V)

  • Cloud exposure (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP beneficial)

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds)

  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira)

  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience in FinTech or Banking environments highly advantageous

  • Ability to work under SLAs in a high-compliance environment

  • Exposure to multi-cultural or Pan-African environments is a plus

Education & Certifications (Preferred)

  • 4-year Degree in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or related field

  • ITIL Foundation or higher

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

  • VMware VCP-DCV

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

  • Oracle Linux / OCI Certification

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
