    Head: Finance

    6 Months Contract position -Hybrid

    Are you an accomplished finance leader with a strong track record in financial operations, reporting, governance, and team leadership? We are seeking a Head: Finance to lead a diverse and multi-disciplinary finance team, driving financial excellence, strategic decision-making, and operational efficiency across the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead a diverse and multi-disciplinary team across Financial Operations in support of the objectives of the Group Business Services Centre of Excellence, Group Finance, and the broader business.
    • Develop and execute strategic goals for the team and finance operations, ensuring financial consolidation aligns with reporting standards, principles, and best practices.
    • Analyse and interrogate financial information to provide meaningful recommendations, explanations, and highlight concerns, trends, risks, or anomalies.
    • Ensure accurate and timely budgets are prepared, reviewed, and submitted in alignment with key economic indicators and strategic business initiatives.
    • Review reconciliations, investigate unreconciled items, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial results.
    • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with IFRS and relevant regulatory frameworks.
    • Stay abreast of technological advancements, industry trends, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) developments, leveraging innovation to optimise workflows and financial processes.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain effective financial controls in collaboration with Risk, Ethics, and IFRS stakeholders to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation through the accurate and timely submission of statutory returns.
    • Consolidate financial reports from multiple sources and provide value-adding insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
    • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through ongoing engagement and effective communication.
    • Support group-wide collaboration initiatives by identifying opportunities to create beneficial partnerships and operational synergies.
    • Drive best-practice financial analysis and reporting through continuous guidance, coaching, and support of team members.
    • Ensure deadlines and business targets are met through effective planning, prioritisation, and communication.
    • Maintain high standards of financial analysis and reporting by organising, monitoring, and managing team workflow efficiently.
    • Contribute to intellectual capital development by motivating, mentoring, coaching, and providing on-the-job training to team members.
    • Achieve business objectives by coordinating activities, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring timely execution of key deliverables.
    • Manage financial and operational risks by adhering to internal and external governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
    • Support the achievement of business strategy, objectives, and values by ensuring systems, processes, services, and solutions are aligned with organisational goals.
    • Take ownership of personal and professional development through continuous learning, training, and career progression initiatives.
    • Share knowledge, industry insights, and emerging trends with stakeholders and team members through formal and informal engagements.
    • Obtain stakeholder buy-in for new and enhanced operational processes by demonstrating the value and benefits of proposed improvements.

    Requirements

    • Relevant Finance Degree (CA(SA), Honours, MBA or equivalent advantageous)
    • Extensive experience in Financial Operations, Financial Reporting, Group Finance, or a related leadership role
    • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, financial controls, governance, and regulatory compliance
    • Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
    • Experience driving process improvement, digital transformation, and AI-enabled efficiencies within finance functions
