This is a 5 – month contract with our client in the Fintech Industry
We are seeking candidates primarily based in Douala or Yaoundé. Exceptional international applicants may be considered, provided they are willing to travel to Cameroon periodically and meet all necessary legal, immigration, and business requirements.
We are seeking an Open API Specialist to lead the design, governance, onboarding, security, and full lifecycle management of our Open API platform across Cameroon. Reporting to the Head of Technology & Information Security, you will play a central role in accelerating partner-led innovation, driving developer enablement, and scaling secure integrations with fintechs, merchants, and aggregators.
Key Responsibilities
- API Platform Management: Manage the full API lifecycle (design to retirement), maintain the developer portal/catalogue, and streamline partner and merchant onboarding activities.
- Security & Governance: Implement and enforce OAuth2, JWT, rate-limiting, and access controls while ensuring compliance with data protection and regulatory audit standards.
- Partner Enablement: Provide technical guidance to external development teams, manage sandbox testing environments, and act as the technical point of contact for integration escalations.
- Performance & Analytics: Monitor API usage patterns, track availability and error rates against SLAs, and build consumption dashboards to inform business partnership decisions.
Core Requirements
- Experience: 6–10 years in API Development, API Management, or Systems Integration, including 3+ years within Open Banking, FinTech, or Mobile Money API ecosystems.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of REST API design (OpenAPI/Swagger), API Gateway platforms, Microservices, and cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Partner Delivery: Proven track record of managing production developer portals and working directly with external fintechs or third-party developers on integration delivery.
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or Engineering. Tool-specific certifications in Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, or Azure APIM are highly preferred.
