ESG & Sustainability Consultant- Contract Opportunity

Hybrid work model (3 days in-office)

Initial contract duration: 6–12 months

Our client in Fintech is seeking an experienced ESG & Sustainability Consultant to support the development, implementation, and advancement of its sustainability and ESG agenda across multiple African markets. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned ESG professional to contribute to impactful initiatives that drive financial inclusion, digital inclusion, responsible business practices, and sustainable growth across the continent.

Key Responsibilities

Support the execution of Group Fintech's ESG and Sustainability Strategy and roadmap

Embed ESG principles into business planning, governance, and operational processes

Drive sustainability programmes and impact measurement initiatives

Coordinate ESG reporting, disclosures, and alignment with global frameworks (GRI, SASB, ISSB, SDGs, etc.)

Support stakeholder engagement with regulators, investors, NGOs, development partners, and industry bodies

Develop sustainability communications, thought leadership, and reputation-building initiatives

Monitor emerging ESG trends, regulations, risks, and opportunities across Africa and globally

Partner with Corporate Affairs, Finance, Risk, Compliance, HR, Procurement, and Operating Companies to ensure effective ESG delivery

Key Deliverables

ESG Strategy implementation support

Quarterly ESG performance dashboards and progress reports

Sustainability impact measurement frameworks and reporting tools

ESG stakeholder engagement plans and materiality assessment inputs

Sustainability disclosures and reporting support

Executive and Board-level sustainability updates

ESG trend analyses and monitoring reports

Recommendations to advance ESG maturity and continuous improvement

Requirements

 7–10 years' experience in ESG, Sustainability, Corporate Affairs, Stakeholder Relations, Development Finance, Responsible Business, or related fields

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Business, Communications, Public Policy, or a related discipline

Postgraduate qualification advantageous

Strong experience in ESG strategy, programme implementation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement

Sound knowledge of international ESG frameworks and sustainability disclosure standards

Experience within Financial Services, Fintech, Telecommunications, or other highly regulated industries preferred

Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, and project management skills

Fluent in English (French advantageous)
