Objectives of this role:
To lead and streamline the accounting functions across two companies by overseeing payroll, 401(k), contract invoicing, and financial reporting. This role will supervise and assess two bookkeepers, ensure clean and accurate books, implement efficient processes, support hiring efforts, and drive value creation through expertise in QuickBooks Online and accounting best practices.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily bookkeeping, invoicing, collections, and payroll processing.
Assess, provide feedback, and supervise two virtual assistants in bookkeeping practices, offering ongoing guidance on financial operations.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and account reconciliation.
Optimize invoicing processes through specialized portals and construction pay apps.
Manage accounts payable/receivable and ensure correct coding of payables.
Coordinate with the Houston-based tax accountant for tax document submissions, filings, and financial reporting, while collaborating with the banker for relevant reports.
Handle payroll processing and 401k contributions as needed.
Lead financial onboarding of newly acquired companies and integrate them into existing systems.
Respond to client/vendor inquiries regarding invoices and payments.
Conduct financial audits and clean up historical books as necessary.
Implement efficient processes and assist in hiring additional team members.
Required skills and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Proven supervisory experience in accounting, particularly in multi-company environments.
Proficient in QuickBooks Online, Sage 50, and construction pay applications.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Effective written and verbal communication, with experience working with remote teams.
Detail-oriented, accuracy-focused, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Open to feedback, analytical, and customer-service oriented.
Nice to have:
