The Accounting Associate will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations of the company. Reporting directly to the Controller, this individual will be responsible for various administrative accounting tasks, ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency. The role involves working closely with the asset management, talent, and acquisitions teams, supporting financial documentation, and handling routine accounting processes.

Objectives of this role:

  • Support accurate and timely maintenance of financial records.

  • Assist in executing financial operations and administrative tasks.

  • Ensure proper documentation and organization of accounting records.

  • Learn and improve processes with the goal of growing into a higher-level role.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis.

  • Conduct regular bank and account reconciliations.

  • Facilitate budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Assist with annual CAM reconciliations and tenant billings.

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the finance team.

  • Ensure accurate data entry within accounting software (Yardi preferred but not required).

  • Support audit and tax documentation preparation.

  • Maintain organized digital financial records using cloud-based platforms (Dropbox, OneDrive).


Required skills and qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role.

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas and data entry skills).

  • Familiarity with cloud-based storage tools such as Dropbox and OneDrive.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent time management and ability to multitask.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience in commercial real estate accounting.

  • Familiarity with Yardi accounting software.

  • Previous experience in a larger firm looking to transition to a smaller firm.
