Health & Safety Officer

 Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Health & Safety Officer to ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment across all company operations. The successful candidate will have verifiable expertise in occupational health and safety and meet the standards set by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with local and international health and safety legislation.

  • Deliver training sessions and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors.

  • Investigate and report on workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, recommending corrective actions.

  • Liaise with management and OHSA representatives to ensure the continuous improvement of health and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.

  • Oversee risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate hazards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of verifiable practical experience in occupational health and safety.

  • Proven competence and up-to-date knowledge of OHSA legislation.

  • Proficiency in English or Maltese.

  • Police Conduct Certificate issued within the last six months (foreign applicants must provide certificates from both Malta and their country of origin).

  • Name not appearing in the OHSA Administrative and Compromise Fines Register.

  • For foreign qualifications: successful completion of the Maltese Occupational Health and Safety Law training module as recognized by the Authority.

Supporting Documentation Required

  • Certified copy of qualification.

  • Equivalence certificate (if applicable) confirming ECTS.

  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).

  • Documents proving two years relevant experience.
