Our esteemed client, a renowned yachting services company, extends a warm invitation to join their team, offering a wide range of services for yachts up to 100 feet. Located on the picturesque island of Malta, their services encompass Yard Facilities, Agency, Yacht charter, customs clearance, duty-free supplies, and bunkering. 🌴⚓
Requires a combination of carpentry skills, knowledge of marine materials, an understanding of boat design principles, and the ability to work in a challenging and often corrosive marine environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Structural Construction: To support in the construction of the wooden framework and structural components of boats and ships. This includes building hulls, decks, bulkheads, and other supporting structures.
- Interior and Cabinetry Work: Responsible for the interior woodwork and cabinetry in marine vessels. Construct and install cabinets, shelves, tables, seating, berths, and other custom furniture and fixtures.
- Flooring and Decking: lay and install wooden flooring and decking on boats and ships. Ensure proper fitting, alignment, and fastening of the flooring materials to withstand the marine environment and heavy usage.
- Repair and Restoration: To get involved in the repair and restoration of damaged or worn-out wooden components in marine vessels. This includes replacing rotted or damaged sections, repairing joints, and refinishing surfaces to maintain structural integrity and aesthetics.
- Custom Woodwork: Creating custom woodwork and finishing touches in marine vessels. This can include crafting decorative details, handrails, trimmings, and other specialized wooden features.
- Maintenance and Refinishing: Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, cleaning, and refinishing wooden surfaces on boats and ships. This helps to protect the wood from water damage, decay, and other environmental factors.
- Interpretation of Plans and Specifications: Interpret and work from construction plans, blueprints, and specifications provided by naval architects or boat designers. Ensure accurate measurements, proper materials selection, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Safety and Regulations: Should follow safety protocols and regulations specific to the marine industry, including working with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring proper ventilation, and adhering to fire safety standards.
Training:
- Maintaining a continuous process of skill improvement and job role upgrading in alignment with industry standards.
- Ensuring attendance and timely participation in all training sessions arranged by the company on a regular basis.
Working Hours:
- Working hours through Monday to Friday 07:00 to 15:30 with half an hour break included.
- Any work carried out more than a 40hr week will be paid as overtime at rates as stipulated by Maltese Law.
