Our client is looking for an experienced Data Governance Specialist to support the data governance team in developing and implementing a data governance framework, policies, and standards. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, the selected candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the implementation of an Enterprise Data Governance program and collaborating with various teams across the organization to achieve data governance objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in establishing and governing an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, prioritizing the development of information-based capabilities.
  • Support the rollout of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, focusing on improving data quality and protecting sensitive data through changes to organizational policies, standards, and processes.
  • Define data standards and quality objectives, and ensure policy compliance.
  • Work closely with business units to deploy the data governance model.
  • Establish control structures to ensure data accuracy and quality throughout upstream and downstream data channels.
  • Provide thought leadership for projects related to data governance, ensuring controls are in place to maintain data integrity.
  • Conduct data integrity gap analysis and collaborate with business owners and IT to resolve any issues.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand functional requirements and deliver complex reports and queries.
  • Promote a culture of quality and transparency within the organization.
  • Ensure alignment with the groups strategic enterprise data needs.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Intermediate facilitation skills with the ability to drive issues to resolution.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to handle tasks independently.
  • Ability to deliver high levels of customer service.
  • Proficiency in writing functional requirement documents.
  • Ability to compare technologies and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Basic proficiency in SQL.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, and Outlook.
  • A positive attitude and tenacity in driving organizational success.

Languages:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Maltese and English.
