Telematics Technician
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled Telematics Technician to join their technical team, responsible for maintaining, installing, and supporting advanced telematics and IT systems across their vehicle fleet. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of onboard technology through hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and system integration.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on hardware systems installed across the fleet.

Repair and service hardware components of on-board fleet management systems.

Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of installation schematics, IT information systems, and telematics configurations for each vehicle model in the fleet, following all applicable installation guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Provide technical support for other digital signage and communication systems operated by the client as required.

Install IT information systems and telematics on newly added vehicles in the fleet.

Collaborate with the engineering department to ensure all installations meet documented safety and compliance standards.

Ensure systems are fully operational and verified before vehicles are returned to service.

Follow established installation and maintenance guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Work with internal IT teams and departments to resolve cross-functional technical issues and coordinate with external vendors for support when necessary.
Requirements:

Certification or diploma in Information Technology.

Certifications related to automotive electronics, telematics, or vehicle networks would be considered an asset.

Previous experience working as a hardware technician or in a similar technical role is preferred.

Attention to Detail: Ability to perform precise, accurate work during installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Compliance: Strong understanding of industry regulations and standards to maintain system integrity and safety.

Problem Analysis: Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills to efficiently identify and resolve hardware and software issues.
Technical Knowledge:

Telematics Systems: Understanding of GPS, GSM, cellular networks, and satellite communications used in vehicles for tracking, remote diagnostics, and data transmission.

Automotive Electronics: Familiarity with vehicle electronic components, including sensors, actuators, and control units, and their functionalities.

Firmware Updates & Maintenance: Experience with firmware updates and maintenance of vehicle IT systems to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance.
