Accounting Team leader

 Job Description:

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Accounting Team Leader to oversee the quality and efficiency of accounting work within the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing accounting tasks, supporting team development, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and assisting with operational planning. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify accounting work prepared by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and internal procedures.

  • Provide constructive feedback and ensure corrections are implemented promptly.

  • Monitor workload distribution to ensure efficiency and balanced allocation of tasks across the team.

  • Provide ongoing on-the-job training, mentoring, and guidance to team members.

  • Support staff with complex accounting tasks and technical matters.

  • Report performance concerns or skill gaps to the Head of Accounting, together with recommendations for development.

  • Drive the team to meet statutory deadlines, internal deadlines, and monthly targets.

  • Oversee the preparation and timely issuance of client invoices.

  • Ensure monthly billing targets are achieved.

  • Monitor outstanding receivables and actively follow up on overdue balances.

  • Liaise with clients to resolve billing queries and payment delays when necessary.

  • Assist the Head of Accounting with ad hoc projects, reporting requirements, and departmental initiatives.

  • Provide support in workflow planning and resource management.

  • Stay up to date with technical developments, accounting standards, VAT regulations, and other relevant legislative changes.

  • Visit client premises when required to perform accounting duties.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).

  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting frameworks.

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
