Payroll Officer

 Job Description:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our clients Human Resources team. Our client is a leading Maltese property development and hospitality group known for delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects as well as exceptional hospitality experiences. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, maintaining compliance with local labor laws, and supporting overall HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Administer end-to-end payroll functions, including data entry, calculation of wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Compliance & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Maltese labor laws and tax regulations; prepare and submit statutory reports and filings in compliance with local requirements.

  • Employee Records Management: Ensure accurate maintenance of employee records related to payroll, benefits, and deductions.

  • Benefits Administration: Assist in managing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, pensions, and other perks.

  • Reconciliation & Audits: Perform regular reconciliations of payroll accounts and assist in internal and external audits as required.

  • Employee Inquiries: Address and resolve employee queries related to payroll, deductions, and benefits professionally and promptly.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other HR systems and financial records.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in payroll administration, preferably within the hospitality industry. Experience with Shireburn payroll software is required.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS systems is a plus.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Maltese labor laws, taxation, and statutory requirements.

  • Communication: Fluency in English; proficiency in Maltese is advantageous.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in all aspects of payroll processing.

  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
