Introduction: We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role will suit a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. The successful candidate will contribute to the accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis crucial to our organization's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with New Zealand accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation expense.
  • Support tax compliance activities, including preparation of GST returns and liaising with tax advisors.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Monitor and interpret cash flows and predict future trends.
  • Contribute to process improvements and initiatives to enhance. efficiency and effectiveness within the finance team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or working towards it is preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and MS Excel; experience with ERP systems is advantageous
  • Solid knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards (NZ IFRS) and tax regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the preparation of financial statements and audit support
