Overview:

The Accountant will be responsible for the Accounts Payable function and general monthly accounting close activities. The Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring proper accounts payable operations through timely payment of invoices and gathering required approvals. The Accountant also plays a pivotal role in ensuring complete and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards through timely completion of month-end close tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of GAAP, excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills, experience with AP processes, and the ability to expand their role to fit business needs and provide the most value to the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accounts Payable process, including entering invoices, ensuring proper coding of invoices, processing expense reimbursements through Expensify, and recording Brex card transactions.
  • Complete month-end close tasks, such as AP accruals, cash journal entries, bank reconciliations, and other journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, as needed.
  • Assist in updating Tias expense reimbursement policy and review expenses to ensure they follow Tias policy
  • Monitor finance inbox and triage emails based on responsible parties throughout accounting team and Tia
  • Perform month over month financial analysis; investigate and explain significant variances
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and/or monthly trackers for cash and expenses to assist team in reporting and monitoring cash and AP balances
  • Assist in developing AP analytics utilizing Bill.com data to report on various elements of monthly spend, including historically late invoices, missing expenses, etc.
  • Other ad-hoc requests as needed

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting standards.
  • Experience using Netsuite accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable function and/or general accounting
  • 2+ years working in Accounting BPO capacity

Statement of Work additions:

In addition to completing the key responsibilities above, the Accountant will be expected to:

  • Arrive to shift on time and work agreed upon hours. Tias accounting team will work with the Accountant to determine the proper shift (night shift vs. day shift) and work posture (hybrid). Accountant will likely be expected to work night shift during training/onboarding; however, there is some room for shifting partially to day shift on non-close weeks once the accountant is fully onboarded.
  • Create a tracker to track time worked on each task throughout the day/week. Especially at first, the Accountant may have a large portion of admin time as they are getting onboarded and the Tia team works on transitioning items to them. This is okay, however, we want this to be tracked for purposes of understanding availability.
  • Promptly notify Tia accounting team and ask for assistance if there are any blockers to completing a task.
