Role Overview

The Bookkeeper will support both internal operations and client-facing projects. Youll manage day-to-day financial transactions, ensure compliance with Australian statutory requirements, and assist in preparing reports and lodgements for a fast-growing recruitment business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily accounting transactions: AP/AR, invoicing, receipts, payments, general ledger
  • Bank and credit-card reconciliations, monthly close processes
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly BAS/IAS returns; liaise with external accountants for annual tax filings
  • Generate management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow forecasts) for leadership review
  • Process payroll, superannuation, payroll tax, and leave entitlements
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation journals, and appropriate accounting documentation
  • Support recruitment team with finance-related queries, billing setups, and cost tracking
  • Continuously improve financial processes, document policies, and introduce automation efforts

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a professional services
  • Proficient in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks; Advance Excel skills
  • Demonstrated experience with BAS/IAS lodgements and account reconciliations
  • Payroll processing knowledge and compliance understanding (superannuation, leave, payroll tax)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; strong time-management skills
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a small-team setting
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills with high client service orientation
