Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Xero Bookkeeper with payroll experience to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing payroll processes, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The candidate should have a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, Xero software proficiency, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of bookkeeping using Xero, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly BAS (Business Activity Statements) and other statutory requirements.
  • Maintain employee records, including payroll documentation and tax information.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with external accountants and auditors during financial audits.
  • Support management in financial reporting and analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and payroll legislation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, specifically with Xero accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in bookkeeping or accounting (e.g., CPA, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Familiarity with other accounting software and financial management tools.
