About the Role:
Our client is looking for an individual with strong organizational skills who has the ability to thrive in a demanding and fast-paced environment. The Staff Accountant will assist in executing all aspects of the monthly general ledger close process, the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables and help with special projects. The role will also assist with tasks involving revenue recognition, technical accounting research and SEC reporting. Further, this role will assist with the design, scoping, and implementation of the company's internal controls over financial reporting. Success in this role requires an analytical mindset, self-direction, and a strong work ethic.
Discover your role's exciting challenges and responsibilities:
- Assist with various aspects of the month-end close process, including but not limited to journal entry and account reconciliation preparation
- Maintain accurate accounting of fixed assets and policy adherence, including processing new asset purchases in the Fixed Asset System, running, and recording depreciation expense, working with asset owners to identify and record asset disposals
- Reconciliation of certain bank accounts and recording of certain cash-related activities
- Review customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition and sales commissions in accordance with accounting guidance and company policies
- Assist with SEC filings including quarterly 10-Q report and the earnings release
- Execute test procedures to assess controls for design and operating effectiveness, and gather, analyze, and report data documenting internal control processes
- Perform process and control walkthroughs, facilitate process and control documentation updates, identify, and evaluate risks applicable to processes and controls, and their inter-dependencies
- Participate in accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
- Participate in external audit and provide support as necessary
You're a step ahead if you have:
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in Public Accounting
- Desire to be part of a high performing team
- Interest and/or some knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
- Proficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Demonstrated ability to pick up new technology platforms and tools quickly
- Able to multitask in a growing, dynamic environment
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Strong collaborator
- Good judgment, problem identification and problem-solving ability
