Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge and experience, particularly with AppFolio software. The Accounting Support Specialist will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, including but not limited to accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Data Management:
- Assist with the accurate and timely entry of financial data into accounting software, ensuring completeness and accuracy of records.
- Maintain records of financial transactions such as rent payments, invoices, and expenses.
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Budgeting and Reporting:
- Support the preparation of property budgets by gathering and organizing relevant financial data.
- Generate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in analyzing financial data and preparing variance reports to monitor budget performance.
- Tenant Billing and Collections:
- Prepare and distribute tenant invoices for rent, utilities, and other charges.
- Monitor tenant accounts receivable and follow up on late or outstanding payments.
- Coordinate with property managers to resolve billing discrepancies and address tenant inquiries.
- Vendor Payments and Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices for goods and services received by the property management team.
- Verify accuracy of vendor invoices, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure timely payment.
- Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries regarding payment status.
- Financial Analysis and Support:
- Assist in conducting financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Provide support during audits by organizing financial documents and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Collaborate with property management team members to address financial-related issues and improve processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in accounting or related field.
- Proficiency in using AppFolio or other property management software is required.
- Proficient with QBO
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A solid understanding of GAAP is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
