Software Engineer – Senior

Location: Chantilly, VA
Clearance: Active TS/SCI required. Agency polygraph will be sponsored.
Salary Range: $135,000 – $155,000 DOE + Comprehensive Benefits Package

Overview:

Osprey Talent Solutions is supporting a mission-focused national security partner seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong GraphQL expertise to design and implement secure, scalable applications within a multi-enclave enterprise environment.

This role supports advanced data-driven and investigative systems operating across classified domains. The selected candidate will contribute to architecture, API design, backend services, and frontend integration while ensuring performance, security, and long-term maintainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement GraphQL APIs supporting enterprise mission systems
• Develop backend services using Python and related technologies
• Integrate GraphQL services with React-based frontend applications (React Relay preferred)
• Contribute to system architecture decisions for distributed applications
• Ensure secure API design, versioning, and integration best practices
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability
• Integrate applications with databases, search platforms, and messaging systems
• Participate in Agile planning and release activities
• Collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and security teams

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Eight or more years of experience in software engineering
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Strong experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs
• Experience integrating GraphQL with React or React Relay
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience building and integrating RESTful services
• Experience with relational databases and SQL
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and DevSecOps principles

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Elasticsearch or similar search/indexing platforms
• Experience integrating messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis
• Experience working within cloud environments supporting national security missions
• Experience working in classified, multi-enclave environments

Work Environment:

• On-site in Chantilly, VA
• U.S. citizenship required. Must be eligible to complete agency-specific polygraph requirements
