About the Role

A global organization operating across multiple regions is expanding into cleared U.S. federal work and Cost+ contracting environments. To support this growth, the company is seeking a senior U.S.-based finance and compliance leader to oversee domestic accounting, regulatory compliance, tax requirements, and governance functions.

This role is ideal for someone who has navigated the intersection of GovCon, Cost+ environments, international operations, and rapid growth. The position offers broad ownership, high autonomy, and the opportunity to architect U.S. processes from the ground up while collaborating with a mature, distributed global accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

U.S. Finance Leadership

  • Oversee U.S. accounting operations, including general ledger, project accounting, billing, accounts payable/receivable, and revenue recognition
  • Lead the monthly and annual close cycles, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with global teams
  • Maintain structured financial records, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages
  • Support corporate planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities

Compliance, Governance & Controls

  • Manage U.S. corporate filings, entity administration, insurance requirements, and regulatory deadlines
  • Lead domestic tax compliance (federal, state) in coordination with internal and external partners
  • Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and audit readiness across U.S. operations
  • Partner with external auditors, regulators, and banking institutions

Cost+ & GovCon Support

  • Serve as the U.S. anchor for Cost-Reimbursable and cleared-work financial requirements
  • Support indirect rate structures, cost allocations, project reporting, and compliance with applicable federal guidelines
  • Ensure proper application of US GAAP and FAR/DFARS-related practices

People Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with HR and operations teams to support U.S., expat, and international employment matters
  • Mentor and develop staff responsible for billing, collections, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Collaborate across global offices to align systems, processes, and financial standards
  • Champion continuous improvement and modernization of accounting systems, ERPs, and workflows

Ideal Candidate Profile

You excel in environments where you can build, improve, and own key functions. Youre comfortable moving between strategic decisions and hands-on execution. You understand both international complexity and U.S. compliance standards, and you're energized by supporting missions with global reach.

Required

  • U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP and Cost+ / GovCon financial practices
  • Experience managing audits, compliance requirements, and corporate filings
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical capability, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with global teams
  • Demonstrated success leading or influencing accounting functions in a multi-entity, multi-country environment

Preferred

  • CPA, ACCA, or related professional certification
  • Experience with USAID/State implementers, international NGOs, or small/midsize government contractors
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems
  • Experience supporting OCONUS teams
  • Prior leadership of small or distributed accounting teams
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
