Job Summary

The Railway Track Works Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of railway track construction and maintenance projects. This role involves managing resources, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects.

  • Hybrid - Must be willing to travel internationally, including flights, hotel and expenses paid.
  • Day rate - Outside IR35 Depending on Experience.
  • Contract - 2 years

Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning and Management
  2. Develop comprehensive project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  3. Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure on-time and within-budget completion.
  4. Ensure that all project activities adhere to established timelines and meet quality standards.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
  6. Establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks to personnel and the public.
  7. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  8. Resource Allocation:
  9. Manage labor, equipment, and materials effectively to optimize project efficiency.
  10. Procure and coordinate the delivery of construction materials and equipment.
  11. Quality Control:
  12. Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure that construction work meets industry standards and specifications.
  13. Conduct regular inspections and quality audits of construction sites.
  14. Stakeholder Collaboration:
  15. Collaborate with engineers, contractors, suppliers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate project progress.
  16. Address and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise during construction projects.
  17. Environmental Considerations:
  18. Incorporate sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices into construction and maintenance activities.
  19. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and mitigate any potential environmental impacts.
  20. Technical Expertise:
  21. Stay updated on the latest railway track construction technologies, materials, and best practices.
  22. Apply technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve construction-related challenges.
  23. Documentation and Reporting:
  24. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all construction activities, expenditures, and project milestones.
  25. Prepare regular progress reports and communicate project status to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. A master's degree may be preferred for more advanced positions.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 20 years of experience in railway track construction and project management, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  3. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction management software, CAD software, and project scheduling tools. In-depth knowledge of railway track design and construction processes.
  5. Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  6. Leadership Skills: Effective leadership and decision-making abilities to manage construction teams and ensure project goals are met.
  7. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address technical and logistical challenges that may arise during construction projects.
  8. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to railway construction, safety, and environmental compliance.

Work Environment:

Railway Track Works Construction Managers may work both in office settings for planning and coordination tasks and on construction sites, which can involve outdoor work in various weather conditions.
