Location: Livingston, NJ – This is a full-time, on-site position where you'll work closely with leadership and the accounting team in a collaborative office environment.

Note: Applicants must have at least 2+ years of bookkeeping experience within a law firm. Experience with legal accounting systems and trust account reconciliation is strongly preferred.

Job Description

  • Manage daily bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile operating and attorney trust bank accounts.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and prepare journal entries.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation.
  • Support leadership with financial reporting and ad hoc analysis.
  • Monitor accounting processes and recommend workflow improvements.
  • Help maintain internal financial controls and compliance.
  • Utilize legal accounting software to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, leadership, and administrative staff on financial matters.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Experience preparing financial statements.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with legal accounting software.
  • Familiarity with Tabs, Clio, Elite, Aderant, or similar legal accounting platforms preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
