Location: Hybrid position based in Louisville, Colorado, just outside Boulder. We value flexibility while staying connected as a team, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Note: Candidates must have 3+ years of substantive patent prosecution experience, USPTO registration, an active attorney license, and a genuine Electrical Engineering background through education and significant patent work involving electrical technologies.

Job Description

  • Draft and prosecute sophisticated patent applications involving electrical, electronic, software, and related technologies
  • Develop patent prosecution strategies and advise clients on building and managing valuable intellectual property portfolios
  • Work directly with inventors, executives, engineers, and in-house legal teams
  • Counsel clients on patentability, portfolio strategy, design-around issues, and broader intellectual property considerations
  • Take ownership of client relationships and become a trusted advisor to growing and established technology companies
  • Collaborate with experienced patent attorneys who bring both technical and legal backgrounds to their work
  • Contribute to client development and relationship management as your practice grows
  • Help support the long-term growth and leadership succession of the practice

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of directly relevant patent prosecution experience
  • JD and active attorney bar license
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO
  • Genuine Electrical Engineering educational and technical background
  • Significant experience handling patents involving electrical or closely related technologies
  • Strong patent drafting, prosecution strategy, and portfolio management skills
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Comfortable working in the Louisville office at least 2 days per week
  • Colorado admission is preferred
  • Experienced law firm, in-house, and solo practitioners are welcome to apply
