Job Description
- Design and develop HVAC and mechanical system layouts for large-scale grocery and retail facilities
- Produce detailed construction-ready drawings using AutoCAD, including plans, sections, schedules, and specifications
- Coordinate HVAC designs with refrigeration, electrical, lighting, plumbing, and architectural constraints
- Perform HVAC load calculations and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Lay out ductwork, ventilation paths, and mechanical spaces to manage high thermal and humidity loads
- Translate field conditions, client input, and conceptual ideas into accurate, buildable drawing sets
- Conduct on-site surveys and walkdowns to document existing conditions and validate designs
- Support installation and commissioning teams to ensure designs function as intended in real-world conditions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
- 5+ years of HVAC or mechanical design experience in commercial or industrial environments
- Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, load calculations, and construction documentation
- Ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced design-build setting
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and applicable mechanical codes
