Location: This is a hybrid position based out of the Bedminster, NJ office, offering a mix of in-office collaboration and flexible work.

Note: Candidates must have an active New Jersey bar license in good standing and 2+ years of defense litigation experience. Medical malpractice defense experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with strong general liability defense experience and exposure to complex medical records may also be considered.

Job Description

  • Support the defense of complex medical malpractice cases from inception through trial and appeal.
  • Evaluate claims, assess liability and damages, and help develop effective litigation strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, trial briefs, reports, and other litigation documents.
  • Handle discovery, including document review, written discovery, depositions, and expert witness preparation.
  • Review complex medical records, expert reports, scientific evidence, and healthcare-related documentation.
  • Represent clients in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
  • Advise clients on risk assessment, case strategy, exposure, and potential outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with hospitals, physicians, insurers, and healthcare-related clients.
  • Stay current on legal and regulatory developments affecting healthcare and medical malpractice litigation.
  • Travel as needed for court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and other litigation events.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of defense litigation experience required.
  • Medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred.
  • General liability defense experience may be considered.
  • Active New Jersey bar license in good standing required.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school required.
  • Experience reviewing medical records, expert testimony, and scientific evidence preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and litigation responsibilities.
  • Prior experience representing hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, or healthcare systems is a plus.
