Location
This is a full-time, in-person opportunity in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Our practice is collaborative and client-facing, so the majority of work is performed in the office. We are generous with time off and may accommodate occasional work from home when necessary or appropriate, but this is not a hybrid or remote position.

Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Alabama. We welcome Alabama-licensed attorneys who are interested in building a career in family law, including early-career attorneys. Experienced attorneys with an established book of business in a compatible practice area such as estates, criminal law, corporate law, transactional law, or real estate may also be considered for an equity partner opportunity.

Job Description
- Represent clients in divorce, custody, support, adoption, modification, and other family law matters.
- Manage cases from initial consultation through negotiation, mediation, hearings, trial, and resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and develop thoughtful case strategies based on each client's goals and circumstances.
- Prepare for and appear at hearings, mediations, negotiations, and court proceedings.
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
- Counsel clients through sensitive and complex personal, financial, and family issues.
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys and staff while developing increasing independence and responsibility.
- Maintain organized case files, deadlines, calendars, and client communications.
- Deliver professional, responsive, and compassionate client service.
Qualifications
- Active license to practice law in Alabama required.
- Genuine interest in family law required for associate-level candidates.
- Family law, litigation, courtroom, mediation, or client-management experience is valuable but not required for first-year attorneys.
- Strong legal writing, research, communication, and analytical skills.
- Comfortable working directly with clients and handling sensitive legal matters.
- Strong judgment, professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work primarily in office in the Birmingham area.
