Location: Hybrid in Southfield, Michigan, conveniently located near Detroit. Tuesday and Thursday are team-wide in-office days.
Note: Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Michigan and have at least 3+ years of directly relevant general civil liability litigation experience. We strongly prefer 5+ years, but will consider attorneys with 3+ years based on the sophistication of their work and demonstrated independence.

Job Description
- Handle sophisticated general civil liability and liability defense matters with increasing independence
- Work on cases involving bodily injury, premises liability, construction liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, transportation or trucking liability, products liability, municipal liability, and related matters
- Analyze liability, damages, exposure, statutes, case law, and other legal issues affecting case strategy
- Develop thoughtful litigation strategies for complex and high-exposure matters
- Conduct legal research and prepare clear, persuasive written work
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents
- Take and defend depositions, including depositions involving lay witnesses and experts as appropriate
- Manage discovery and work with expert witnesses
- Participate in mediation, settlement strategy, negotiations, and case preparation
- Prepare matters for trial and assume increasing responsibility as experience grows
- Communicate directly and professionally with sophisticated clients
- Collaborate closely with partners and other attorneys while remaining receptive to coaching and feedback
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active Michigan law license
- 3+ years of directly relevant general civil liability litigation experience
- 5+ years of experience strongly preferred
- Meaningful experience in one or more areas such as premises liability, general liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, transportation or trucking litigation, products liability, municipal liability, or construction liability
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Experience managing discovery, depositions, motions, and litigation strategy
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively
- Professional, polished, and comfortable communicating directly with clients
- Collaborative, coachable, intellectually curious, and motivated to continue developing
- High-exposure case experience is strongly preferred
- Experience representing sophisticated corporate clients is a plus
- Experience deposing highly technical expert witnesses is a plus
- Trial experience is a plus but is not required
