Job Description:

The Medical Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between OPE and the contracted on-site medical service provider, ensuring prompt, culturally sensitive first aid care for visitors and staff. This role focuses on maintaining health service readiness, managing emergencies, and complying with Egyptian health regulations and UNESCO standards at this iconic World Heritage Site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the contracted medical provider to ensure adherence to SLAs (response times, staffing, equipment).
  • Conduct daily inspections of first aid stations, ambulances, and supplies for compliance with hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Lead immediate triage and care for heatstroke, injuries, and other emergencies, prioritizing high-traffic zones (e.g., pyramid entrances, visitor center).
  • Coordinate patient transfers to local hospitals and liaise with healthcare facilities for seamless care.
  • Ensure compliance with Egyptian Ministry of Health regulations, WHO guidelines, and site-specific protocols.
  • Maintain records of incidents, treatments, and equipment inventories for audits and reporting.
  • Train staff (guides, security) on basic first aid, heat stress recognition, and emergency communication.
  • Distribute multilingual health advisories (hydration, sun protection) to visitors.
  • Analyze visitor forecasts and seasonal trends (e.g., peak tourism, heatwaves) to adjust medical resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to develop emergency plans for mass casualties, evacuations, or extreme weather.
  • Partner with tourism operators, event planners, and local authorities to align medical support for events/VIP visits.
  • Integrate medical protocols with broader site safety strategies under the HSE Managers guidance.
  • Gather visitor feedback to identify service gaps and propose enhancements.
  • Stay updated on global best practices for first aid in heritage or high-traffic outdoor sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Emergency Medicine.
  • 3+ years in medical coordination, preferably in tourism, hospitality, or event settings
  • Valid first aid/CPR certification.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic; additional languages (e.g., French, Spanish) advantageous.
