Position Overview

Granville College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Veterinary Technician Assistant Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality instruction, supporting student learning, and ensuring that course outcomes are met in alignment with program objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom and laboratory instruction for the VTA program, following established curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Facilitate hands-on labs and demonstrations to reinforce practical learning.
  • Evaluate student performance through quizzes, assignments, and exams, and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades, and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Support students in developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge to prepare for practicum placements and future employment.
  • Utilize the Canvas learning management system to manage course materials, post grades, and communicate with students.

  • Strong industry knowledge and hands-on skills relevant to veterinary practice.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present material clearly and facilitate group learning.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire students.
  • Professional demeanor, high standards of behavior, and commitment to student success.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrative staff.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage grading, attendance, and student feedback.

Qualifications

  • A certificate, diploma, or degree relevant to the subject area of the program/course (Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant), and a minimum of two years' work experience in the related career; OR
  • Ten years' work experience in the related career.
  • Credential in adult education and/or prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, preferably Canvas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
