About the job Conveyancing Secretary ||
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Transfer of properties which includes residential and commercial property transfers
- Preparing files accurately according to specifications
- Administering and organizing the conveyancing legal practice of the director
- Effective stakeholder communication essential for both internal and external parties (banks, municipalities, rates consultants, estate agents deeds office, etc.)
- Drafting documents which includes typing and formatting legal documents and commercial agreements
- Attending to lodgments and registrations of all transfers, bond cancellations and bonds Attending to all the finances related to the conveyancing transactions
- FICA administration following up to ensure the FICA requirements are complete
Requirements:
Matric essential
Legal conveyancing secretary/paralegal qualification advantageous
6 + years experience as a conveyancing secretary
Microsoft Office Suite programmes, more specifically MS Word
Experience on Investec, Nedbank and Standard Bank bonds would be advantageous
In-depth knowledge of conveyancing software/systems such as: Lexis Convey, Lotus Notes, E4 (Portal based), Webconvey and Windeed
Basic knowledge on Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system Competencies: Ability to type documents confidently with attention to detail
Ability to work fast, accurately, efficiently and independently
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to take initiative, be proactive and diligent
Must be well-organised and conscientious
Honesty, reliability and punctuality
Ability to work under pressure for prolonged periods
Sense of responsibility
Maintaining confidentiality in all matters
Good people skills and team player
