About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join a dynamic public accounting team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The Accounting Manager will lead client engagements, manage financial reporting, and oversee tax preparation and audit tasks for a diverse portfolio of clients, including privately held companies, owner-managed businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on accounting solutions and provide value-added recommendations.
  • Lead and execute client engagements, including the planning and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Perform audit procedures and prepare working papers for financial statement audits.
  • Prepare personal (T1) and corporate (T2) tax returns in compliance with Canadian regulations.
  • Review small to medium-sized engagements to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Manage and nurture existing client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Represent the firm at networking and industry events to support business development efforts.
  • Gain a deep understanding of client businesses to offer tailored solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA designation in Canada.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting, with a strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards, auditing practices, and tax regulations.
  • At least 2 years of experience at a CPA firm in Canada (excluding sole proprietorship or self-employment).
  • 4+ years of experience with private enterprises, including compilations, reviews, NTRs, audits, and tax returns for small businesses and NPOs.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams effectively.

Preferred Background:
Experience at top accounting firms, such as Big 4 (EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG) or mid-sized firms (MNP, Grant Thornton, RSM, etc.).
