About the job Mold Design Engineer

Summary:

This position is primarily mold design, detail mold drawing preparation, mold modification drawings preparation, trial support, Container design, Bottle inspection & communicate with sales, customer & HQ for pilot mold design, production mold design & Support molding engineer, by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Mold CAD (2D &3D) Drawing

Creation of preform design, Mold assemble drawing, Mold parts drawing.

Mold Specification

Documentation of mold specification.

Mold BOM

Creation of a bill of material list for each mold.

Mold Code Number

Documentation of mold item code number.

Mold Modification Drawing

Creation of mold modification drawing depending on final product requirement.

Mold Modification Revision Record

Creation of mold revision record according to the mold modification. And provide the information to HQ for record.

Manage mold Unit & Parts Organization (storage)

Organizing the mold parts which we have received from factory. Keep clean and using the parts for future pilot mold project.

Trial scheduling

Planning of Pilot & production mold trial. (meeting Monday: 9:30am, Friday: 3:00pm)

Record & update the trial schedule.

Trial information

Record mold modification, molding parameter, Bottle inspection report and provide the information to factory for production mold.

Manage mold Unit & Parts Organization

Organizing the mold parts which we have received from factory. Keep clean and using the parts for future pilot mold project. And arrange for mold scrap.

Technical Study

Evaluation of designs for feasibility and provide estimates for cavitation and cycle time. Evaluate special machine and/or mold requirements. Evaluation of feasibility of sharing mold parts.

Container Design

Read and understand customer drawings, models, sample and convert in 3D model & 2D drawing and submit to sales for customer review and approval.

Drawing Checks

Check the drawings and technical reports of colleges to ensure accuracy and that company's quality standards are maintained.

Sample bottle

Catalogue, store, and archive sample bottles from factory and customers

Drawing & Data management

File hard & soft copies of drawings and related information.

Mold drawing data management

Mold drawings data storage & send to customer.

Bottle Inspection

Conduct destructive and non-destructive tests on sample containers including but not limited to dimensional measurements, overflow capacity, fill point and fill point capacity, wall thickness, drop test, and top load (compression test machine).

Sample bottle & mockup model shipment

Packing and shipping of sample containers and 3D printed mockup models to the customer or other subsidiaries.

Communication

Communication will primarily be with the sales staff, factory & subsidiary, Sales and customer will be required.

3D scanner

Set up and operate the 3D scanner to evaluate designs, aid in CAD modeling, and to communicate the designs with the HQ.

Others

Timely response to top executives and any stakeholders' requests and inquiry.

Basic design training to new mold design engineers

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in engineering; or five or plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and mold design experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software (AutoCAD & Solidworks,); Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
