Our client , a leading food retailer is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the companys finance function and support the Managing Director with accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and commercial insight. This is a hands-on role within a growing SME, combining operational finance with strategic input.

The Role

Reporting to the MD, the Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day finance operations while ensuring the integrity of financial information and supporting business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow reports, and financial analysis
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control
• Manage bank reconciliations, payment runs, and cash flow
• Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance
• Monitor procurement spend and supplier pricing
• Own and maintain finance systems (Xero and related tools)
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit processes
• Provide financial insights and ad hoc support to the MD.

About You

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong experience in SME finance or finance management roles
• Excellent working knowledge of Xero and payroll systems
• Comfortable operating hands-on while contributing strategically
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate clearly
• Proactive, organised, and commercially minded
